Foster Communications – Says a lot about San Angelo.
Walton Foster established a company that is not only the signal of success… but the Signal of San Angelo. From Foster Communications Coliseum to Foster Field, Foster Communications is, to this day, proud to be a part of the fabric of San Angelo. Foster radio stations have been local, live and loyal for more than 60 years.
The Foster flagship, KKSA, signed on at 1260 AM in November of 1954 and has always been the innovator in radio entertainment and information. Originally one of the very first top forty stations in the US, KKSA was also the first AM radio station in West Texas to go stereo and later the first to devote its entire programming day to News, Talk and Sports. KIXY was the next to sign on and has been a contemporary hits radio station since its very first day on the air in 1967 – unheard of for an FM radio station in the 60’s. KWFR at 101.9FM – a classic rock station named in honor of Mr. Foster was acquired in 1995 and KCLL – Cool 100 at 100.1 FM a classic hits station went on the air as a Foster Communications radio station in May of 2004. The foundation Foster Communications was built on then – continues under the leadership of Fred Key today. The Mantra remains the same: Take care of the Community.
Foster Family employees are very involved in the guidance and direction of many worthwhile groups in the Concho Valley. At last count, Foster Communications employees work for more than fifty local agencies, boards and organizations in San Angelo and that list continues to grow.
Foster Communications Company is proud to be a locally-owned media group in San Angelo.
